Life: A Narrative Guide
Saturday, 18.09.2021, 11.00 – 13.00
Theatermuseum Düsseldorf, Jägerhofstr. 1, 40479 Düsseldorf

It is through storytelling that a sequence of events becomes a story. This is also true of the stories we tell ourselves and others about our lives, our experiences, our selves. Our lives are narratives. We far too rarely realize this. And even more rarely do we see that these »life stories« are not fixed. They can be changed, re-told, re-constructed. The workshop combines methods of narrative psychology with storytelling techniques. By learning to consciously create our stories, we can take new perspectives on our past – and not least become the author of our future.

The Body as an Archive

Saturday, 28.08.2021, 14.30 – 17.00
Theatermuseum, Jägerhofstr. 1, 40479 Düsseldorf

In this workshop, participants learn to explore their own bodies as carriers of a (hidden) biography. With the help of specific sensitization exercises and visual means, experiences and memories archived in the body are made visible and narratable in order to gain a deeper and renewed understanding of the individual life story in cooperative (also intergenerational) processes.

Aspects: Body biography, body heuristics

Dialog With Time
Wednesday, 01.09.2021, 14.00 – 16.00
Caritas Düsseldorf, Leopoldstr. 30, 40211 Düsseldorf

Saturday, 18.09.2021, 15.00 – 17.00
Theatermuseum, Jägerhofstr. 1, 40479 Düsseldorf

The workshop leads participants to explore the relationships between time and the self and to articulate them through drawing. The self-explorations will be contrasted with the exploratory findings of the other participants, and will finally coalesce into a multifaceted, multigenerationally shaped image of time. (No drawing skills required!)

We, Memory Players 1
Wednesday, 11.08.2021
10.00 – 12.00

Caritas Düsseldorf, Suitbertusplatz 1a, 40223 Düsseldorf

Charcoal is a symbol of condensed time. We draw with charcoal on a large piece of paper. In duet. The participating seniors lead the joint drawing process. With their eyes closed, they draw memories. Their duet partners try to follow or support the movements – like in Aikido or other couple dances. We may find a synchronous moment in the movement. Three to six drawings are our goal. They form the basis for the following workshops.

Aspects: Social interactions, transgenerational transmission
