Age(ing), society and art
Saturday, 6 August 2022
Rose WAM, 4–7 Motomachi, Ibaraki, Osaka 567-0882
The symposium brought together scholars, artists, and other experts from various fields from Japan and Germany to reflect on and discuss age(ing) and aging societies in both countries.
Japan and Germany are not only among the wealthiest but also among the most aging countries in the world. It is likely that there are many similarities and differences. We addressed the experience of aging in both countries, how it is changing, and what the individual and societal challenges are. We paid particular attention to the social life and social participation of older people.
And on art. What is it doing in the context of this topic? What role can – and does – art play with regard to social issues?
