Claudia Hübbecker was born in Hamburg and studied theater, German philology and art history in Erlangen and Vienna before completing her acting training at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst »Ernst Busch« Berlin. From 1997/98 she was engaged at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. This was followed by an engagement at the Theater Freiburg, before she became an ensemble member of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus for the 2006/07 season. Here she appeared, among others, as Winnie in »Glückliche Tage« (director: Stéphane Braunschweig), Frau John/Frau Hassenreuter in »Die Ratten« (director: Volker Lösch), Queen Elisabeth in »Richard der Dritte« (director: Staffan Valdemar Holm), Maria in »Was ihr wollt« (director: Jürgen Gosch) as well as in her solo evening »Alles renkt sich wieder ein«. In 2013 she received the audience award Gustaf of the Rheinische Post in the category Best Actress. At the D’haus, she has appeared in many productions since the 2016/17 season, including Ingmar Bergman’s »Fanny and Alexander« (director: Stephan Kimmig), »Wonkel Anja – Die Show!« based on Anton Chekhov (directors: Barbara Bürk and Clemens Sienknecht) and Shakespeare’s »Hamlet« (director: Roger Vontobel). She also appears on stage in Bertolt Brecht’s »Die Dreigroschenoper« (director: Andreas Kriegenburg), in »Nathan (to go)« after Lessing (director: Robert Lehniger) and as »Linda« in the German-language premiere of Penelope Skinner’s play of the same name (director: Marius von Mayenburg), among many other productions. The 21/22 season will also include Dürrenmatt’s »Die Physiker« (director: Robert Gerloff) and the co-production with Schauspiel Köln »Reich des Todes« (director: Stefan Bachmann).
