The imai Foundation is dedicated to the archiving, distribution, preservation and mediation of video art. This task is unique in Germany and makes the institute an important international interface for this audiovisual art form. The imai archive holds a representative collection of around 3,000 works of artistic and documentary value, providing an overview of the development of video and media art: from its pioneering days in the 1960s to the present day. Regular exhibitions, screenings and publications provide insight into the extensive archive holdings.
