The Cologne Cluster of Excellence Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-Associated Diseases CECAD is an interdisciplinary research network of the University of Cologne. CECAD investigates the causes of the aging process and aging-associated diseases. More than 400 international scientists from the University, the University Hospital, the two Max Planck Institutes for Metabolic Research and for Biology of Aging as well as the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) are conducting research at the Cluster of Excellence CECAD. The goal: to uncover the molecular, cellular and systemic mechanisms of aging in order to identify new joint therapeutic options that can be applied to age-associated diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s or diabetes.
